What to do the week before the CFA® exam
The CFA® exam date is approaching. Hopefully, you've long finished the required readings and are simply in review mode. Make sure to do the following:
1. Buy an extra calculator battery for the exam
Murphy's Law, ya know?
2. Print out your exam ticket!
Believe it or not, some people scramble to do this the day of the exam. Bad idea.
3. Take some timed practice exams
Be disciplined and work within the time limits. Even use a stop watch (or the stop watch feature on your smart phone). To really simulate exam day, take practice exams at 8AM away from your living room (e.g., the library).
4. Make sure you have the right calculator
5. Acquire an extra calculator
I never did this but see the wisdom in it. You don't have to buy another one. Just borrow one from a friend.
6. Plan your route to the exam center
Do this especially if you've never been there before. Not a bad idea to do a test run and commute to the exam center so you get a feel for travel time, parking, and other details that you don't want to learn about on exam day.
7. Make sure your passport is still valid (not expired)
This is really something you want to verify MONTHS before your exam date.
8. Sharpen all of your pencils
9. Buy earplugs
Some test centers have hundreds of test takers. You don't want to hear every little cough, shuffle or tapping.
10. Practice writing key formulas over and over
Best of luck and as always - happy studying!
